Accessibility at Mount Zion Early Learning Centre

We want every family in our community to be able to find the information they need on this website, regardless of ability or the technology they use. This page explains our commitment, what we've done so far, and how to let us know if something isn't working for you.

Our Commitment

Mount Zion Early Learning Centre is committed to making this website accessible to everyone, including visitors with visual, auditory, motor, or cognitive disabilities.

While Ontario's Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) currently applies to organizations with 50 or more employees, we believe every family deserves equal access to information about their childcare. We have chosen to follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level AA as our standard because it's the right thing to do, not just because it's the law.

What We've Done

Our website is designed to meet WCAG 2.0 Level AA, including:

  • Colour contrast - All text meets a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 against its background (Level AA), and we aim for 7:1 where practical (Level AAA)
  • Text sizing - All text can be resized to at least 200% using browser zoom without content overlapping or becoming unreadable
  • Keyboard navigation - Every feature can be reached and operated using keyboard alone (Tab, Enter, Escape)
  • Meaningful headings - Pages use proper heading levels so screen readers can navigate by structure
  • Link clarity - Links are written so their purpose is clear from the link text alone
  • No content flashes - Nothing on this site flashes more than three times per second
  • Form labels - All form fields have visible, programmatic labels
